That is what we are doing right now. It all started last Friday when Isis came down with her first fever. Yes first. She is over two years old and has gotten her first one.
Then came Sunday with my own aches. And sore throat. And complete lethargy. It is now Thursday and I have decided it's time to see a doctor.
Luckily Chris has stayed well, except for a sore throat. He has been mommy, daddy, housekeeper, cook, and business owner this week.
We are surviving on soup and frozen pizzas. Isis is surviving on PB & J and fruit snacks which are a spectacular substitute for the real thing. Sometimes I give her candy canes and Christmas cookies just to buy myself a few more minutes. I have enlisted a babysitter named Television. Another proud parenting moment.
We are in survival mode. Nothing is done well or whole heartedly (unless done by Chris who is holding us all together :) It is just done. Back in my teaching days, if I had to get a substitute, I would tell them just to survive the day. As long as everyone goes home alive and happy, their job is well done. And here we are. As long we are all alive by the end of it, we have done well. Even if Isis meal tonight is fruit snacks and Christmas cookies and candy canes for dessert.

Hang in there. You're doing great. Before you know it, you'll all be feeling better and you can make parenting choices you will have energy for. For now, a little TV and a few cookies (okay, a lot of cookies) won't hurt anyone. You're energy needs to be focused on you getting better (resting) instead of slaving over a stove and wearing yourself thin playing hide-and-seek and all other manner of exhausting (even when your healthy) child's games.
Cookies and fruit snacks... I am coming to your house. Dad
Get rid of that crap before we see you. I claim healthiness for your family in the Name Jesus! Take Vit C every 2 hours and a shot of whiskey mixed with vinegar and you'll be fine.
Yes, a shot of whiskey in the name of Jesus. Go Big Ed!
