Yes these words actually came out of my mouth today. Luckily however, the kitty was stuffed.
I can't tell you how much Isis loves cats. They have been a long time favorite and seem to evoke in her many emotions. A few days ago a package arrived from Grammy and Pop-Pop and inside was a stuffed kitty named Daisy. I asked Isis what she wanted to do with Daisy and she quickly responded, "nack." Or as I like to call it, snack. So we put Daisy up on the table and Isis fed her "meeelk" and "pooches." That would be milk and peaches.
We are currently throwing around the idea of buying her a kitten for her upcoming second birthday. But with that lovely idea comes the other unlovely ideas of monetary commitment, shots, litter boxes, claws, apparently refrigerators... And right about the time we talk ourselves out of it, Isis reminds us just how much she adores them.
She will see a kitty on tv and she seriously trembles with excitement and makes a very very high pitched noise as if calling the kitty home. Recently she has been crawling around the house acting like a kitty and will sometimes lower her head into her snack bowl and feast like a kitty.
I decided to take her to the pet store today to see some live kitties. One of the cages had a very fat grouchy kitty appropriately named Possum. Isis couldn't get her fingers in the cage fast enough to pet Possum. Only Possum apparently doesn't like little girls and hissed loudly at Isis and sent her into tears.
I wasn't sure how her episode with Possum would make her feel about kitties until we got home and she licked the kitty in her story. Yes, any book with a kitty on the page gets licked. I'm not sure I can fathom any reasoning behind that one.
I asked Isis what she would name a kitty if she had one and she said "Nanyo." I figured this was a one time made up word. I asked her the same thing later and she said Nanyo again. Apparently she has a plan.
I'm beginning to think I've talked myself right into this. Or Isis has talked me into it. Our family has been petless for two years now, perhaps it is time. I think we can teach her to keep the kitty out of the fridge, but can we teach her not to lick it?

Just be glad she has not fallen for a cow. Or a... duck. Dad
Want me to cross stitch a kitty for her first? -June
(Emma thinks a kitty is fab idea!) Sorry if Kattor eats her on our upcoming visit.
No June. I"ll just give her my cross stitch.
You can try to teach her not to lick the cat but good luck. Dylan loves to lick our cat stewart. I can't figure it out!
This is so funny, I love it!
